About this event

XO Group, Inc. is proud to announce Hack Upon a Cause with the goal of building sustainable technological solutions to better the lives of women around the world.

Together we will be focused for 24 hours building web & mobile apps to help four amazing non profits solve a unique set of real world problems that women and teens encounter both locally and globally every day.

XO Group, Inc. is a global media and technology leader providing young women with the trusted information products and advice they need to guide them through the most transformative events of their lives. Collaborate with developers, designers, entrepreneurs and non-profits to impact the lives of women that need it the most.The participating non-profits include: Step Up Womens Network, Wish Upon A Wedding, New Course, and DayOne.

Code of Conduct for Hack Upon a Cause: Powered by XO Group, Inc.

This hackathon is fully dedicated to diversity and inclusivity. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, positive environment for all of our participants, and we welcome all attendees’ assistance in making this goal a reality at Hack Upon a Cause: Powered by XO Group, Inc.

  1. Unique Code We want you to do what needs to get done for these awesome non profits. We encourage everyone to collaborate, use data sets, APIs... whatever you and your team determine will help create the most sustainable solution for our non-profits.

  2. Ownership and IP This is a charity hackathon. We’re here to give back and donate our hard work for a good cause. Winning submissions will be required to assign all rights to their code to the non-profit they are supporting. We would also like to encourage sharing your code via Open Source to help nonprofits all over the world leverage the hard work you’ve put in this weekend.

  3. Team Size Teams of up to 5 humans are allowed.

  4. Submissions Each entrant should submit via hackathon.io. Submission time is normally 1pm Sunday unless stated otherwise. http://www.hackathon.io/xo4

  5. DEMO your Hack You must demo your hack in order to present. No slide-decks or power-points will be allowed. Don’t be scared if you haven’t finished building… it’s okay long as you tried your best.

  6. Have fun! It’s a hackathon! Use whatever languages, libraries or hacks you have in your arsenal. Show us new concepts. Show us anything you’d like.

  7. Respect Especially because this is a charity event, we expect everyone’s behavior to be just as good as their coding. Please treat other event attendees and organizers with respect and, whenever possible, kindness. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants, volunteers, or staff in any form and any form of such behavior or activity will result in participants being promptly removed from the event.
