Background

IITM Incubation Cell/ Research Park and Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) are organizing a hackathon to promote and drive innovation in voice/speech-based solutions for banking services. An application that can provide option to use voice commands for carrying out transactions can enable the underbanked population (individuals who are not literate or have a disability) to gain access to banking services. Further, enabling this option in vernacular language can overcome the language barriers and enhance users’ trust in the banking system.

Modality of the event

The number of participants in a team may be upto 5 members. In addition to this, the teams have an option to bring a mentor.

The Hackathon will be conducted in 2 rounds.

Round-1 : Participants are required to develop a functional version of the app and submit video along with the source code capturing the execution of the commands mentioned in Round-1.

Instructions:

• Android studio or Flutter can be used for app development.
• The participants shall be given access to infrastructure for developing the app.

Problem statements will be shared once the participants register for the event. The Last date for submission of Round 1 challenge is March 21st 2023.

Round-2 : The finalists are invited for an in person hackathon at IITMRP where they will be testing the app developed by them to execute additional commands/ tasks given as challenge on that day. Details will be shared with the shortlisted teams.

Winners will receive Cash Awards upto ₹ 50,000 per team.
