Automation allows us to forget about repetitive chores but sometimes we tend to forget about those systems and their core purpose. While walking around my neighborhood, admiring the houses and their lawns, I usually come across several houses with their sprinkler systems on. Even on rainy days. That’s a waste of water! If I were to water manually I sure wouldn’t water on a rainy day! My lawn gets way more water with the rain than what it will get with my sprinkler system. Our idea consists on making these systems smarter, allowing them to take decisions based on the current state of the lawn and other external factors. Smart Sprinkler is a device that will regulate the water flow from your garden hose using soil sensors to determine the current state of the lawn and information from weather services in order to know when and how much the lawn should be watered. You will be able to adjust settings according to your water restriction schedule and soil type. Smart Sprinkler is a more efficient and inexpensive way of watering your lawn, because there is no need to have an underground sprinkler system, which is expensive and difficult to maintain.
