About this event

Silicon Chef is a hardware hackathon for humans who identify as female, presented by Hackbright Academy. Your team will be given 1 box of parts and 1 microcontroller. It's up to you to come up with an innovative solution to a problem in the world using hardware hacks, blinky lights, legos and sensors.

    Coffee Crawl
    A coffee crawl is going to take place in the mission, with teams meeting up at 8 local coffee shops in the area, all within walking distance to Stripe.

    11 AM - 12 PM
    Sign-in and Logistics
    Come starting at 11 AM to pick up your random box of electronics, including Arduino boards, sensor and LED kits, and various craft materials. Every box will feature a microcontroller and some sensors, as well as a random assortment of other things, perhaps even LEGOs.

    12 - 1 PM
    What's in the box? (with Star Simpson)
    We'll have an overview of the base box as well as identifying the various sensors and parts that come with. We'll throw out some ideas and have a basic demonstration of how to hook up your microcontroller to your computer and start hacking!

    Hack!
    Start on your projects, but leave around 8:00 PM. Go engage in revelry, or sleep, or head to a teammember's house to hack into the night!

2) If you identify as male, contact the organizers and let us know why you want to participate in Silicon Chef.
3) To obtain entry, you must be a participant, mentor or have purchased a recruiter ticket.
4) In order to keep your box of parts, you must use the micro-controller in your project.
5) You MUST have a team to get a box!!!
6) Prepare to learn

How do I get a box?

1) You must register on Hackathon.io on a team of 5-7 people. Teams of 5-7 people will get ONE box. Click the projects tab to register a new team.
2) Everyone on your team must have an Eventbrite ticket. Mentors do not count towards your 5-7.
3) Everyone on your team must be present at the event at the time we're giving out boxes to receive a box.
