Singapore suffers from a perception as a clean, safe, well-functioning and modern, albeit slightly boring destination with little grit and depth to it. Secret Singapore is a web and mobile platform employing gamification to change that attitude and carry out to the world the depth and richness of the Singapore experience. It does so by connecting locals and visitors in providing a stream of "Secrets", big and small claims about better and lesser known aspects of the island. Some are true, some are made up. Visitors will use a simple swipe interface to cast their vote. Relying on user generated content carries the risk of trolls. In this concept, Secret Singapore has embraced this, actively encouraging clever, charming trolling and rewarding it. Ultimately, this community can become a source for locals and visitors to connect and share in the rich history and fascinating contemporary facets of this vibrant nation.
