We are solving the problem of podcast discovery - there is lots of podcasts out there but no easy way to search for specific content. PodFinder is an app that scours the content of podcast episodes and creates content-based categories for people to browse and search by. This allows people to find episodes related to their interests and discover lesser-known podcasts. In order to help people find an interesting podcast faster, we also give users a 10 second preview of the podcast. To understand the underlying content of the podcasts, we don't rely on the curated metadata. We transcribe the podcast episodes' audio & characterize them using Natural Language Processing techniques. This allows podcast discovery by the content - rather than metadata, search engine optimization, or current popularity.
