According to the Gallup report "Customer Satisfaction Doesn't Count"-- "Customer satisfaction without emotional connection has no value. None at all." Engaged customers are vital to a successful business, but traditional methods such as surveys are often flawed, and rely on 'satisfaction', which is not meaningful without engagement. Utilizing facial recognition technology, we check a customer's emotional state during the time of purchase. We can combine this with the usual transactional data (time of day, employee, price of the transaction, etc) and with marketing campaigns to find correlations, which provide a more accurate and immediate analysis of customer engagement than selection-biased surveys. The next step is using this data to A/B test to find which factors can improve customer engagement further. This will allow the business to find the marketing campaign or product focus that connects with the core customers, changing the goal from simply 'satisfied' customers, to engaged, smiling, happy customers.
