About this event
A Hackathon building on the Free Bee Mobile App for OFWs
Take the challenge! Join Hack the Hive and build mobile app solutions to enrich the lives of Global Pinoys thru Free Bee App.
Hack the Hive is a hackathon that aims to uplift the lives of OFWs through mobile solutions that connect them with everything they love from back home, wherever they may be
The Hackathon is made possible through Free Bee - the new mobile app that allows overseas filipinos to contact their loved ones at home, even those without 24/7 access to the internet. Through ad-sponsored free calls, affordable premium calls and a What's the Buzz content section, Free bee serves as the digital bridge to connect to global pinoys all over the world.
Challenges:
Pa-Load Code (API to be opened)
The biggest challenge for an uncarded OFW to avail of the service is how to buy premium credits aka load.
Innovate on the ways Free Bee accounts can be topped up, whether by the OFW himself, or by a friend or loved one back home. Think out of the box and find simple yet effective solutions to convert cash-in-hand to in-app credits.
Kababayan Content
Free Bee wants to be more and do more for the overseas filipinos to add enjoyment and ease to their lives abroad. Unlock the potential of mobile platforms as a channel for engagement, education and fun by finding ways to infuse user-generated content sharing, games and community. Enable users to share, interact and learn with meaningful connections to an active network of kababayans who care.
Bayanihan Innovation
Scattered all across the world, Global Pinoys have a unique set of pains to be alleviated and needs to be fulfilled. Hack the Hive is open to innovative digital solutions that address real pain-points of OFWs and their families and beneficiaries in the PH. Use your technology skills to level up the lives of overseas Filipinos the world over and those of their families in the PH.
