There are four built-in, selectable layers that provide a basis for viewing imagery that has no obvious datum, or are useable as data in their own right. Those layers are NASA’s Blue Marble with bathymetry, coastlines, the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap, and the Stamen Terrain map based on OpenStreetMap data.
