WebGeek will be holding another WebGeek DevCup this coming August 2013. But this time,DevCup participants can now fully enjoy a two-day hackathon. This year’s DevCup will be held on the 17th till the 18th of August in the same venue of last year’s hackathon, Meralco Multi-Purpose Hall, Meralco Compound, Ortigas Center.

Last year’s completion was attended by more than 200 developers and participants armed with the single aim of learning and challenging their skills and building apps in accordance with the theme. This event allows developers to learn new technology, showcase their talent and ultimately build awesome apps of tomorrow. Everyone can benefit by making the interaction better, smarter, and perhaps providing a more technologically engaged place to live. Build a web app, mobile app or any software platform, either by yourself or with a team and you can also win awesome prizes.

Registration. Only registered teams will be only to compete. Participants must register as a team or individual and each group can be composed of 3 members maximum.

Hack. You can build either a mobile, web app, platform or desktop application

Languages & Tools. You can use whatever programming language/development tools/frameworks/API you want. Participants are expected to bring the necessary tools to build their competition entry.

Procedure. In this event, participants will be given 2 days to develop an app on the theme to be given that day. Staying overnight is not allowed ( must vacate by 12MN, come back by 10AM the following day)

No Offsite Development. All development must be performed on-site between the aforementioned start and end times for the event. We don’t allow teams to re-purpose an existing app, add a feature, then flog their badly disguised demo as a hack.

Demo/Judging. No Powerpoint! No Presentation. Participants will present their output from their respective tables. Judges will roam around to individually check and test each output.

Rules Changes. WebGeek DevCup reserves the right to make rules modifications prior to the start of the event. Please check back occasionally for changes!
