Our aim to provide internet access for people in emerging and developing countries through sms. Why sms? In 2014, Pewglobal’s study revealed that around 75% of people regularly use texting whereas only 45% of people had at least some access to internet. We’re targeting that 30% but also those who can go to the city for internet, download our app, and then use it offline to connect to the internet. Our main features are: Weather, Stock Valuation, Wiki searches, Tech Job headlines, and Hacker News headlines We chose these features because they need only few words to convey their message (since sms can only be 160 characters long, and we didn’t want users to be charged for many incoming texts) - for research and their day to day activities
