  1. Coding Language: Applications may be built in any code that you please.

  2. Fresh Code: You can use APIs, open source libraries, previously built hardware, sprites, wireframes, and any design elements you’d like, but all back-end code must be new. You can work on the concept for your application before the competition starts, make digital mockups, even database entity diagrams. However, no production assets of any kind can be created until the start of the official competition period on Saturday.

  3. Teams: A team can consist of up to 6 people and may consist of only 1 person.

  4. Submissions: Each team must submit by 1:00 pm on Sunday in order to demo their application to the judges.

  5. Presentations: Presentations will start at 2:00pm on Sunday. You will have 3 minutes to present your idea to the panel of judges and then have a 60 second Q and A period. You'll have access to a microphone, VGA cords, and projector to display your application. We want to see demos of your idea/application, not power point presentations.

  6. IP: We are all working together to facilitate the open exchange of ideas. Anyone - you and the sponsors - are free to pursue and further develop any ideas with or without each other. Your use of the ourr Sponsor APIs must be in accordance with the relevant API Terms of Use. Any content contained in the APIs (e.g. photos, text) are to be used solely for this Hackathon and may not be used for any other purpose.

  7. How You Will Be Judged: The judges are looking for ideas and applications that can disrupt the tech industry using the our sponsors’ APIs. The idea or application must focus on mobile and web solutions that the judges determine can be developed into a working product within the next 6 months.

  8. Miscellaneous: AngelHack has the right to disqualify any team or team member who it believes is cheating or is threatening, harassing, or annoying any other team or team member, Hearst or any sponsor. If for any reason the event is not capable of running as planned by Hearst, Hearst has the right to cancel or stop the Hackathon or change how the Hackathon is run. You understand by participating in the Hackathon that no confidential or contractual relationship will be established between you, Hearst and/or the sponsors. The judges’ decisions are final and uncontestable.
