Even when there’s no-one around, street lights are powered from sunset to sunrise at full strength causing tremendous energy waste while also causing ‘Light Pollution’. This project provides a solution that is simple and effective. My system will sense the ambient lighting, humans, vehicles and animals through different sensors and gives only required amount of light depending on the surroundings. When there's no motion detected for some time, lights will go to pre-defined intensity. LEDs use only 15% of the energy a halogen lamp use and can be dimmed to pre-defined intensity during off-peak hours using PWM, So, I decided to use LED lamps. If used in city, power bills can be reduced by 70-80 percent.
