DEMO LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f37aWnWigIA --About--Civic has built an identity platform that allows individuals to hold their identifying information securely on their mobile device. The key innovation is that data is decentralized, living only with the owner, but the authenticity of that information can be publicly checked against the blockchain using Civic’s API. The goal is to give individuals ownership over their identities while giving organizations a transparent common language in which they can issue new information about those individuals. --Demo--In the demo, we’ll show a quick example of how a smart city might implement Civic at their port of entry to check identities and other essential information of returning citizens, tourists, or incoming immigrants.--Architecture Overview-- Data is encrypted and stored only on your mobile device. This data includes both the actual identifying information and the verification provider. (ex: Civic, Stanford Medicine, U.S. State Department) Proof of this “attestation” is placed on the blockchain where it can be revoked should the status of your identity change. Third parties then issue data requests to users via a scanned QR code. These requests transparently identify the exact information being requested, and the user can then decide whether or not to approve the request. The benefit of this implementation is that your identity can be shared separate of the blockchain, but the blockchain is always available through the Civic SDK should the third party want to ensure that your information hasn’t been revoked.
