Traditional wisdom doesn't consider housewives and stay-at-home-moms as "working". But do you know how much she really saves the household? Think of everything she does - laundry, teaching, elderly care, cooking, cleaning, etc.. And the best of all, she does all this with passion and love every single day of the week every week. Can you imagine a job which requires you to take on so many different roles in such varied areas of expertise with no vacation? We calculate the salary that these housewives would receive if they were doing all these jobs professionally. This data is extracted from the top job sites all over the world. The rates vary by country because each country has different minimum wage and different supply of skilled/unskilled labour. We scraped the rates for a few specific job categories and took the average. This task was very challenging because we couldn't find the information for every country on a single website. We use HP's IDOL OnDemand APIs to do entity recognition and text tokenization APIs to do some simple text processing.
