My idea is to build a portable patient monitoring system based on the MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 development platform and a few sensors. The monitoring of vital signs includes monitoring of several vital parameters such as electrical activity of the heart, body temperature, heart rate and respiratory frequency. The ECG signals are acquired by using a multi-channel ECG Analog Front-End with respiration measurement and pace detection. The ECG AFE chosen for this project is Texas Instruments ADS1298. I also tested an ADAS1000. Heart rate and pulse oximetry are measured through an optical pulse oximeter and Heart-Rate sensor IC Maxim MAX30100 with two LEDs and a photodetector. Body temperature is measured by the MAX30205 temperature sensor. A high precision 9-axis motion coprocessor is used to measure patient position and to obtain activity patterns. A graphic OLED color display and a touch panel are optional and they can be used to control the device and to display acquired data in real time. This device contains the following elements: - MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 development platform - 8-channel ECG Analog Front-End ADS1298 - Optical Pulse Oximeter/Heart-Rate Sensor MAX30100 - Digital temperature sensor MAX30205 - Motion coprocessor SSC7102 - GPS Receiver GP-735 - Color 1.3" 128x128 OLED graphic display with touch panel - Battery. A wireless connection is used to send acquired data to a mobile device or a WiFi router and then to a web server through the Internet or a cellular network. An Android or Web Application will perform real-time analysis based on selected indicators and parameters (e.g. heart rate interval variation).
